Dr. Erica Wilson has been in the pharmacy field for more than 10 years and has worked with patients of all ages and backgrounds, helping them to understand their medications and medical conditions while optimizing therapeutic outcomes and detecting any medication-related problems. She focuses on collaborating with the patient and health care providers to develop and achieve optimal goals of medication therapy.
Erica is from Sarasota, Florida, and resided there until she attended the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida, to receive her Bachelor of Science degree in Health Science. She earned her Doctorate of Pharmacy (PharmD) at South University in Savannah, Georgia. She has practiced in Bradenton, Florida, as a retail pharmacy manager for the past five years. She has extensive experience with the elderly population in her current practice.
She is an active member of APhA and Rho Chi Honor Society. She has considerable experience training pharmacy students and other pharmacists.

Medication-related problems are common among patients, especially those who have multiple disease states and complex medication histories. The management of patient medications can be a challenge for all health care practitioners in both the hospital and home care settings. This course will discuss the need for conducting a thorough and effective medication reconciliation. The steps to perform a medication reconciliation will be discussed in detail, including how to conduct a structured patient interview. Tips on how to make the medication reconciliation process more effective will be provided, and relatable case reviews will be demonstrated. Polypharmacy is a growing concern in our health care system, both in elderly and other special populations. This course identifies and discusses factors that contribute to polypharmacy to provide clinicians with an understanding of the possible negative effects on patient health. This course is the first part of a two-part series. Part Two goes on to discuss how to reduce polypharmacy using evidence-based tools.
