Barbara DeMarco

PT, OT, PhD

Dr. DeMarco (formerly Gladson) is the Senior Associate Dean for Education at the Rutgers University School of Health Professions and is currently co-leading the Workforce Development Core for the New Jersey Alliance for Clinical and Translational Science's NIH CTSA for Princeton, New Jersey Institute of Technology and Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences. She also is the the Director of the Biopharma Educational Initiative and has grown the program from certificates in recruitment and regulatory affairs to a MS in Clinical Research Management.

Dr. DeMarco earned a BS from the University of Pennsylvania in Occupational Therapy, a MS from Columbia University in Physical Therapy, and a PhD in Pharmacology from the Rutgers School of Graduate Studies. Her areas of expertise include pharmacology, physiology, and upper extremity rehabilitation.

Additionally, these sources of information provide only superficial coverage of pharmacologic principles and how these relate to therapeutic interventions for our patients. The aim of this series is to present the most common drug categories seen in practice and discuss their interaction with exercise, when applicable. The first course in this series introduces learners to the general principles of pharmacology. Students will also learn how to recognize adverse drug events and to use physical findings to determine toxicity.
