Dawn Clifford
PhD, RDN
Dawn Clifford is a professor and graduate coordinator at Northern Arizona University. Dr. Clifford earned her BS in nutrition and dietetics at NAU and completed her dietetic internship at the Greater Los Angeles VA Hospital. After working as an outpatient dietitian for a few years, Dr. Clifford returned to school to complete her master's and doctorate in nutrition science at Colorado State University. Dr. Clifford served as the director of the Didactic Program in Dietetics at California State University, Chico, for 10 years prior to joining the Health Sciences faculty at NAU. Dr. Clifford conducts research in nondiet approaches to health and well-being and behavior change counseling techniques. She is the coauthor of Motivational Interviewing in Nutrition and Fitness and is an accomplished speaker on motivational interviewing and nondiet approaches. Dr. Clifford is a registered dietitian nutritionist and member of the Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers.
